Second rehearsal done!
Second rehearsal done!
May 17, 2014 Comments Off on Second rehearsal done!We had our second rehearsal for the upcoming May 31st concert. It was great to see everyone keen and eager to make music again.
The rehearsal commenced with a call for the string section and this allowed us to sort out a few technical issues, work on balance and blend, and to continue our development as an ensemble. After about 90-minutes of rehearsal the winds, brass and percussion sections joined us for a full orchestra rehearsal. It was very pleasing to hear the repertoire coming together; however, there is still more work to be done!
Jason, our principal timpanist and iPhone videographer, captured a snippet of Sibelius’ Finlandia. Here are Jason’s words about his video.
There’s nothing quite like the rich sound of a full orchestra playing original symphonic works. Come listen to the first concert of the Launceston Philharmonic Orchestra on Sat 31st May at the City Baptist Church on Fredrick Street as we perform works by Sibelius, Beethoven, Saint-Saens, Vivaldi & Mendelsshon in a joint concert with the University Wind a Orchestra.
Here’s a snippet from today’s rehearsal of Finlandia to whet your appetite!
